A 23-year-old woman was talked off a ledge Thursday near the railing of the spillway bridge at Tuttle Creek Lake Thursday afternoon.

The incident closed traffic both ways for a period of time at the dam on K-13.

According to Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat, Pottawatomie County deputies, Riley County police officers and Kansas Wildlife and Parks officials responded to the area just after 2 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival the woman wouldn’t leave the edge of the bridge.

A Pottawatomie County detective along with a Riley County Police officer talked with her for nearly two hours and eventually were able to convince her to leave the edge of the bridge. She left the bridge with law enforcement and was met by a family member.

She was transported by law enforcement to a local hospital following the incident.
