    Involuntary manslaughter investigation in Riley County

    Updated Monday morning:
    A weekend death investigation by Riley County Police is now being called an involuntary manslaughter. As earlier reported by KMAN, Randy Jay Abarr, 60, was found at 2220 Green Avenue shortly before midnight Sunday in response to a 911 call. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Abarr, who was reportedly unconscious at that time.

    This (Monday) morning’s RCPD activity report indicates at approximately 5:10 AM Sunday Abarr was listed as a victim of an involuntary manslaughter.The report adds only that all parties have been identified and no arrests have been made pending further investigation but that there is no danger to the public.

    RCPD Public Information Officer Hali Rowland tells KMAN her office is waiting on autopsy results prior to listing a cause of death.

    Riley County Police are investigating the death of a 60-year-old Manhattan man. Randy Jay Abarr was found at 2220 Green Avenue shortly before midnight Sunday in response to a 911 call.  When officers arrived on scene, they found an unconscious adult male identified as Randy Jay Abarr of that address.
    Abarr was transported by Riley County EMS to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan where he was pronounced dead.
    No further information regarding cause of death is being provided at this time.
