A Wamego firefighter has died following a fall on New Year’s Day, according to a news release from the Wamego Fire Department this morning.

The WFD says firefighter John Randle sustained a life-threatening injury from a fall while returning fire apparatus to service following the completed response to a structure fire during the early morning hours Monday.

Randle was air-lifted from the Wamego Health Center to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka and died there Tuesday.

KMAN will have more information as it becomes available.
