WICHITA — Authorities say an 82-year-old woman has been found dead after a fire in her Wichita home.
The Wichita Fire Department says heavy smoke was pouring from the home when crews responded Friday morning around 8:30 a.m. Firefighters found the woman’s body after extinguishing the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The woman’s name wasn’t immediately released, but KAKE-TV out of Wichita is reporting that family members at the scene have identified her as the home’s sole resident, Bettie Clark Johnson.
