TOPEKA — Authorities say a man in a wheelchair was killed when a pickup truck crashed into him.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that police say the crash happened Thursday night. Lt. Jerry Monasmith says that police believe the man in the wheelchair was trying to cross the street when a vehicle traveling west hit him.
The man’s injuries initially were described as serious but not life-threatening. However, the man later died at a local hospital. Police are withholding the victim’s name until his family is notified.
