Volunteers have begun taking donations of gifts or money to help make Christmas a little brighter for kids and their families by providing gifts for local children of active-duty service members during the holiday season. The donation event kicked of with a speech from Fort Riley Garrison Commander Colonel Stephen Shrader, who said it was an honor to be a part of this event.

The head elf, Sgt. 1st Class Ferguson, who is in charge of getting the gifts from the donation boxes to the families says they have been working since October and will be opening the doors for more volunteers.
