The Flint Hills Discovery Center will be unveiling a couple new exhibits this weekend as well as celebrating Kansas.
The Framed: Step Into Art and Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites exhibits will open on Saturday, Jan. 26 and running through May 12. Framed is an interactive exhibit that allows guests to experience what it would be like to step into a painting. The exhibit also has prompts to create conversation between guests.
Storyland has a similar concept, but instead allows guests to step into life-sized scenes from storied children’s books. The exhibit is intended to demonstrate the importance of literacy through poetry, storytelling and other activities.
Then on Sunday, the FHDC will celebrate Kansas Day a few days early. The event will feature interactive stations where guests can feel real bison fur or an ornate box turtle, see a live tiger salamander, work on nature crafts and see honeybees in action.
