RCPD dynamic entry training set for Wednesday, residents may hear explosions

By KMAN Staff on June 10, 2019 Local News, Manhattan, Riley County

Residents in the area of the 1500 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard may hear some explosions Wednesday, June 12.

The Riley County Police Department will be conducting training exercises that involve controlled explosions. Law enforcement personnel will be practicing dynamic entries and as a result, portions of Holiday Drive and Meadows Lane will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The ability to train officers on alternative entry methods in a real-world situation, allows us to be better prepared to respond to certain emergency situations,” Sgt. Scott Hagemeister said.

RCPD says there is no danger to people or property in the area of the training. Officials also note that the training is closed to the public.
