A 23-year-old suspect has been arrested by Kansas State University Police in connection with the shooting incident near the Kansas State University Foundation building in the beginning of May.
According to a release by the university, Erin Trent Boykin of Manhattan is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and criminal discharge of a firearm and is being detained in Riley County Jail.
The incident occurred on May 9 around 11 a.m., stemming from an off-campus dispute that ended up in the Foundation parking lot. Scanner traffic indicated two, possibly more, shots were fired. People at the Foundation were asked to shelter in place as a result for a short period. No injuries were reported.
The victim later drove to the RCPD headquarters and was interviewed, two visible bullet holes could be seen in their windshield. No one involved was connected to the university.
KSUPD was assisted in the investigation by RCPD, Junction City PD, the Geary County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the ATF.
