Junction City Police have identified the person who died Saturday following a seven-hour standoff.
Captain Trish Giordano says 39-year-old Damien Paul St. Julien died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers had been attempting to arrest him on a felony warrant out of Douglas County. St. Julien was initially located in his vehicle and asked to exit the vehicle, but then brandished a handgun and fled to a home on West Third Street, where officers established a perimeter.
JCPD were assisted at the scene by Geary County Sheriff’s deputies, Riley County Police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation
Officers have confirmed the incident is not connected to last Thursday’s double homicide.

A seven hour standoff in Junction City ended with a man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday.
Police were attempting to arrest the suspect and had obtained a warrant for his arrest from Douglas county. The Junction City Police Department began attempts around 1 p.m. Saturday, calling in assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Geary County Sheriff’s Office and Riley County Police Department. The incident began after he brandished a handgun and fled following an initial stop. He fled to his home where a perimeter was established in the 100 block of West Third.
The incident came to an end around 8 p.m. Saturday. Police have not released the man’s name.
Officers have confirmed the incident is not connected to a homicide that occurred Thursday in Junction City. Police continue to investigate in that case.
