MELVERN, Kan. — Authorities have identified the man killed in an accident at a rock quarry in eastern Kansas.
Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said that 68-year-old Frank Rockers Jr. was killed in the incident. Rockers was taking samples at the bottom of a chat pile when it gave way and buried him at the Harshman Construction rock quarry near Melvern. Two workers immediately began to recover Rockers and were joined by fire rescue units. But Rockers didn’t survive.
His name wasn’t immediately released.
