The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers filed a report for aggravated battery in the 1000 block of Leavenworth St in Manhattan on August 29, 2020, at approximately 3:53 am. Officers listed a 21-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 19-year-old male hit him with a hammer. Miguel Gerber, 19 of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offense of aggravated battery, at approximately 4:18 am. Gerber was issued a total bond of $5,000.00 causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 900 block of Bluemont Ave in Manhattan on August 29, 2020, at approximately 11:50 am. Officers listed a 24-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took his Milwaukee toolbox and hand tools. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $700.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 600 block of 3rd Pl in Manhattan on August 29, 2020, at approximately 12:19 pm. Officers listed HyVee as the victim when it was reported a 35-year-old female took miscellaneous food items. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $612.45.

Officers filed a report for rape in Manhattan on August 29, 2020, at approximately 2:38 pm. Officers listed a 20-year-old female and a 19-year-old female as the victims and an unknown male as the suspect. Due to the nature of the crime reported, no additional information will be released.

Officers filed a report for aggravated domestic assault and violation of a protection order in Manhattan on August 30, 2020, at approximately 1:51 pm. Officers listed a 26-year-old female, a 28-year-old female, and a 34-year-old male as the victims when it was reported a 25-year-old male displayed a knife at them and violated a protection order.

Officers filed a report for theft and criminal damage to property in the 400 block of Leavenworth St in Manhattan on August 30, 2020, at approximately 2:39 pm. Officers listed Hyvee as the victim when it was reported a 29-year-old male took a shopping cart then damaged it. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $800.00.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 600 block of Colorado in Manhattan on August 30, 2020, at approximately 4:27 pm. Officers listed a 28-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took his Blue Honda Fat Cat Motorcycle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,750.00.  Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
