Riley County has reported its 14th COVID-19 related death.

The victim was an 81-year-old male who died at the Wamego Health Center after testing positive on Nov. 1.

Riley County is also reporting 170 new positive cases and 96 recoveries. This brings the county’s total number of active cases to 425 and recoveries to 2,368.

Ascension Via Christi Hospital is currently caring for 11 positive patients and three persons under investigation.

Riley County has identified one new outbreak at the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, bringing its number of active outbreaks to nine.

630 people were tested Thursday at the free-testing event in CiCo Park. The county will prioritize calling positive patients first, which could delay calls for negative patients until the end of next week.

Riley County is hiring more staff to assist with test-result reporting.

The next free-testing event will take place in CiCo Park on Monday, Nov. 16 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

The Riley County Health Department is also offering free testing every Thursday at CiCo Park through the end of the year, except for on Thanksgiving and Christmas. These weekly testing events will also take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
