    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for theft and criminal damage to property in the 700 block of S. 6th St. in Manhattan on February 12, 2021, at approximately 11:17 a.m. Officers listed A&M Auto Repair as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle and attempted to steal an additional vehicle’s catalytic converter. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $550.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and intimidation of a witness or victim in Manhattan on February 12, 2021, at approximately 3:34 p.m. Officers listed a 24-year-old female and a 24-year-old male as the victims when it was reported 24-year-old male and 24-year-old female suspects injured them, intimidated them, and damaged picture frames. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $30.00. Garrett Silva, 24, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offenses of aggravated battery, domestic battery, and criminal damage to property. Silva is confined in the Riley County Jail on a total bond of $10,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 2500 block of Farm Bureau Rd. in Manhattan on February 12, 2021, at approximately 9:23 p.m. Officers listed a 53-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 52-year-old female suspect damaged a 1989 Chevrolet Corvette and a 2006 Harley-Davidson Sport STE. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,700.00.

    Officers filed a report for criminal use of a financial card in the 100 block of Manhattan Town Center in Manhattan on February 13, 2021, at approximately 6:34 p.m. Officers listed UMB Bank, Zales, Bank of America, and a 30-year-old female as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect used a stolen financial card to make a purchase. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,233.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 600 block of S. Seth Child Rd. in Manhattan on February 13, 2021, at approximately 6:44 p.m. Officers listed a 57-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole an HP laptop and a Samsung Galaxy cell phone from a vehicle. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $800.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers responded to the report of an injury accident in the 2200 block of Anderson Ave. in Manhattan on February 15, 2021, at approximately 2:55 p.m. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Austin Dowling, 27, of Manhattan had swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a 2019 Hyundai Elantra driven by Jenniffer De Oliveira Brito, 24, of Manhattan. Dowling was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. Dowling was arrested for aggravated battery, DUI, possession of opiates, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dowling was issued a total bond of $9,500.00 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 600 block of Bluemont Ave. in Manhattan on February 15, 2021, at approximately 4:32 p.m. Officers listed a 61-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 24-year-old male suspect stole a Whirlpool washing machine. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $650.00.
