Riley County is reporting 10 new positive COVID cases and 13 more recoveries since Friday.
Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for two positive patients.
The health department will continue vaccinating those 65 and older on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday it will administer “boosters,” second doses, to individuals who vaccinated between Dec. 22 and Feb. 4th.
Phase 3 of the vaccination process will likely begin in early March, with those 18 to 64, with severe health conditions prioritized.
The county has fully vaccinated 2,130 residents. Nearly 5,000 have received at least their first dose.
Local Health Officer Julie Gibbs informed the Riley County Commission Monday that her office is in the process of drafting a new local health order, which could be introduced by mid-week. It’s anticipated the new health order will ease some restrictions.
Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce officials have expressed interest in the health department doing away with the midnight closing rule for bars and restaurants.
