Strategic planning firm Planning NEXT and city staff intend to offer multiple in-person opportunities for residents wanting to help shape Manhattan’s strategic plan.
Three of those events will take place on May 6.
The first will take place at K-State from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the second around the downtown dining platforms from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and the third at the Wefald Pavilion in City Park from 7 to 9 p.m.
There will also be a series of pop-up events from May 10 through May 31 that will focus on reaching out to underrepresented populations.
Through these events, city and Planning NEXT intend to survey residents about what they believe should be prioritized within the strategic plan.
Planning NEXT official Sarah Bongiorno says there will also be options for those not yet comfortable with attending in-person activities.
“We are offering a virtual meeting on May 10 from 12 to 1 p.m.,” Bongiorno said. “The lunch hour was our best virtual meeting from round one.”
Planning NEXT and the City of Manhattan put on a series of online meetings and surveys earlier this year as part of the first round of gathering public opinion on the city’s strategic plan. For the second round, they are making in-person engagement more of a priority.
Residents will continue to have access to strategic-plan information and surveys at engagemhk.org/crossroads from May 3 through May 31.
