The Riley County Health Department is putting on two COVID-19 vaccine clinics over the next few days.
RCHD official Jenny Yuen says the first will take place at the Douglass Center at 900 Yuma St. this Friday from 3 to 5 p.m..
“We are trying to vaccinate those that live around that area – those people that may not be able to make it to CiCo Park where we do our mass clinics,” Yuen said. “We want people to be able to come and get access easily from us in those two hours.”
The second clinic will be at the First Free Methodist Church at 1231 Poyntz Ave. from 3 to 5 p.m.
Fellow RCHD official Kelly Cameron-Harp says the clinics are part of a the RADx-UP program, which strives to bring vaccines to underserved populations.
“That can be our more rural communities and that can be spots within Manhattan that may be struggling to find testing,” Cameron-Harp said. “RADx-UP works with communities of color, non-native English speakers and different groups that may be at a higher risk of being more affected by COVID-19.”
Patients will receive the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine on a first-come first-serve basis.
Those who attend will not be required to provide an ID or proof of insurance to get the vaccine.
Anyone who is interested is encouraged to call 785-565-6560 to inform the health department of which clinic they plan to attend.
