    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 500 block of Sunset Ave. in Manhattan on May 25, 2021, at approximately 9:56 a.m. Officers listed a 49-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole his black 2019 Geely moped. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,000.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated battery and criminal damage to property in the 400 block of Fort Riley Blvd. in Manhattan on May 25, 2021, at approximately 11:01 a.m. Officers listed a 35-year-old male and 39-year-old female as the victims when it was reported a 31-year-old female suspect hit the 39-year-old female victim with a bat causing minor injuries to her hand and head. The suspect also smashed the 35-year-old’s car’s windshield and rear window with a bat. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,300.00. Makia Harris, 31, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offenses of aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, four separate counts of possession, and two separate counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Harris was issued a total bond of $22,000.00 and is no longer confined a the time of this report.

    Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 300 block of Southwind Rd. in Manhattan on May 25, 2021, at approximately 11:27 a.m. Officers listed The Manhattan Project, LLC as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect spray-painted graffiti on the back wall of the business’s building. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $10,000.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property near the intersection of S. 4th St. and Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan on May 25, 2021, at approximately 1:22 p.m. Officers listed a 68-year-old female and a 71-year-old male as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect used a key to scratch their car’s paint. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for aggravated assault in the 10900 block of Lasita Rd. in Leonardville on may May 25, 2021, at approximately 2:02 p.m. Officers listed a 44-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 74-year-old male suspect intentionally swerved a large tractor and trailer in the direction of the victim while he was mowing the edge of a roadway.

    Officers filed a report for burglary in the 4100 block of Spook Rock Way in Manhattan on May 25, 2021, at approximately 5:08 p.m. Officers listed 21- and 31-year-old males as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect entered their apartment while they were away and stole cash. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $650.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
