    T. Russel Reitz Animal Shelter cats and kittens to be available for discounted adoption fees

The T. Russel Rietz Animal Shelter will have kittens available for a discounted adoption fee of $75 starting Wednesday.
The adoption event will go from Wednesday, May 26 to Wednesday, June 2 and will feature kittens which animal control officer Brandon Sokol says are fully vetted.
“They’re not old enough for a rabies vaccine but they are old enough for their other vaccines and to be treated for internal and external parasites like fleas and ticks,” Sokol said.
Sokol says adult cats will also be available for a discounted fee on June 4, also known as Hug Your Cat Day.
“We’re going to discount our adult cats for $25,” Sokol said. “Normally they’re $50, so it’s still a great deal on those animals because again, they’re getting all the vet services that they need.”
Walk-ins are now available, but those who are interested in adopting a specific animal are encouraged to schedule an appointment.
The animal shelter is open 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
