    UPDATE: Man killed in Junction City shooting

    UPDATE:

    An arrest has been made in the shooting death of LaVincent Perdue.

    Junction City Police arrested 21 year old Willie Powell Jr. on the charge of 2nd-degree murder. Powell was taken into custody after turning himself into the Topeka Police Department  Saturday morning. Powell is being held at the Geary County Detention Center pending his first appearance.

    One man died Friday following a shooting near a Junction City barbershop.

    Junction City police responded to Elite Cuts Barbershop in the 700 block of West 6th St. after receiving a report of shots fired.

    Officers arrived to find 23-year-old LaVincent Perdue with a gunshot wound.

    Perdue was transported to Geary County Community Hospital where he later died.

    Although no suspect has been named, the investigation is ongoing.

    The Junction City Police Department has confirmed that there is no active threat to the community.
