AUSTIN, Texas (Kansas State Athletics) – Roschon Johnson rushed for a career-high 179 yards, and Texas used a pair of second half field goals to pick up a 22-17 win over K-State on Friday in Austin. The Longhorns (5-7, 3-6 Big 12) snapped a six-game losing streak. K-State dropped to 7-5 (4-5 Big 12).

K-State led 17-16 at the half behind 159 rushing yards. Deuce Vaughn opened the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Will Howard followed with a 71-yard rushing score later in the half. Chris Tennant added a career-high 51-yard field goal to complete the first half scoring for K-State.

The Wildcats had just one first down and 17 total offensive yards in the third quarter. The Cats moved the ball a bit better in the fourth but failed to convert on a pair of fourth and short situations to allow Texas to hold on for the victory.

Cameron Dicker hit a 39-yard field goal in the third quarter and added a 22-yard field goal in the fourth for the only scoring in the second half.

Texas held a 20-13 advantage in first downs. The Longhorns ran 68 plays compared to K-State’s 48. The hosts finished with 381 yards of offense (209 rushing, 172 passing). Casey Thompson threw for 170 yards with a touchdown. Cade Brewer caught a touchdown pass for Texas in the first half.

Will Howard finished 9-for-13 for 65 yards. Vaughn had his fifth straight 100-yard rushing performance with 143 yards and a score. K-State was just 1-for-9 on third downs in the loss.
