Novel coronavirus recoveries have outpaced new cases in Riley County since last week’s report.
54 new COVID-19 cases were reported by the Riley County Health Department Wednesday, with 98 recoveries being reported as well since November 18.
As of Wednesday, seven patients were under care at Ascension Via Christi Hospital — one of whom is fully vaccinated. Three unvaccinated patients are in the ICU.
That brings total active cases to 117, with the percent positivity rate dropping to 4.7 percent from 7.9 percent in the last week. Prior to that, percent positivity had seen increases for multiple weeks.
Overall, 8,428 positive COVID-19 cases have been identified since the pandemic began. 64 of those have died. 265 cases of variants of concern have been recorded.
Third dose booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine are currently available at the Riley County Health Department.
All fully vaccinated Kansans over 18 are eligible for the booster if they have not received prior doses of Pfizer or Moderna in the past 6 months — or 2 months for those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
A Moderna shot clinic is scheduled for December 2 at the Riley County Family and Child Resource Center at 2101 Claflin Road. That runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and those looking to attend must schedule an appointment through the health department.
Testing also remains available for free. The KDHE hosts a testing site at the north side Manhattan Town Center parking lot Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which will be closed on November 25.
