    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for aggravated battery and criminal damage to property in Manhattan on January 18, 2022, around 6:34 a.m. Officers listed 19- and 61-year-old females as the victims when it was reported an 18-year-old male suspect punched and hit the 19-year-old with a child’s chair during an altercation and damaged multiple items in the 61-year-old’s home. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500. Alapeti Manuel Ware Jr. was arrested in connection for aggravated battery and criminal damage to property. He is currently confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $10,000.

    Officers filed a report for theft, burglary, driving while license revoked and criminal trespass in the 10,500 block of Anderson Ave. near Riley on January 18, 2022, around 7:38 a.m. Officers listed 32- and 36-year-old males as the victims when it was reported a 31-year-old male suspect stole a white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with multiple tools located in the bed, broke into a second truck, and stole additional tools from the bed of a third truck. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $12,900. The stolen Silverado was seen later that day turning on to Barns Rd. in Manhattan. Officers located the vehicle in the 1600 block of Green Valley Cir. and arrested the driver, Brock Anthony Baker Odell, 31, of Clay Center for theft and driving while license revoked. He is currently confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $4,000.

    Officers filed a report for burglary, criminal trespass and burglary in the 6000 block of White’s Rd. near Keats on January 18, 2022, around 8:33 a.m. Officers listed a 42-year-old female and a 47-year-old male as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect broke into a barn and stole a Stihl chainsaw and trimmer, and a Hitachi air compressor. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,200. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for theft by deception in the 500 block of Bluemont Ave. in Manhattan on January 18, 2022, around 3:14 p.m. Officers listed a 21-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect threatened him with jail time if he didn’t pay for medical bills. The victim then sent the suspect $1,000. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 3900 block of Stagg Hill Rd. in Manhattan on January 18, 2022, around 4:50 p.m. Officers listed a 41-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect cut a white Pace American enclosed trailer off a vehicle and stole it. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $4,000. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
