    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 700 block of Highland Ridge Dr. in Manhattan on January 24, 2022, around 7:10 a.m. Officers listed a 24-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect stole his white 2006 Nissan Altima with the keys and a wallet left inside. Financial cards in the wallet were later used by the unknown suspect. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,670. The car was later located by Ft. Riley Police on Vintage School Rd. and returned to the owner. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for burglary in the 11,400 block of Anderson Ave. near Riley on January 24, 2022, around 8:47 a.m. Officers listed a 36-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect broke into his detached garage and stole a Stihl chainsaw. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $850. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers responded to the report of an injury crash in the 6700 block of Anderson Ave. on January 24, 2022, around 9:21 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by John Hanson, 54, of Riley had driven into a cornfield after falling asleep. Hanson was transported to Via Christi for treatment of lower back pain.

    Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property in the 700 block of Yuma St. in Manhattan on January 24, 2022, around 10:43 a.m. Officers listed an 84-year-old male and an 88-year-old female as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect broke into their house through the back door window while the female victim was home and stole two bottles of tequila. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $375. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.     Officers filed a report for aggravated criminal threat in Manhattan on January 24, 2022, around 6:25 p.m. when it was reported an unknown suspect sent threatening Snapchat messages. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
