MANHATTAN, Kansas (Kansas State Athletics) – K-State women’s basketball student-athlete Ayoka Lee continues to add to her trophy case, as she was named a 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)  Academic All-District VII First Team selection on Thursday. This is the second straight season Lee has garnered CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

As a program, K-State women’s basketball has earned 25 CoSIDA Academic All-District VII citations by 15 student-athletes.

As a first team selection, Lee advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team selection process, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in mid-March.

Lee graduated in May of 2021 with her undergraduate degree in psychology and is currently pursuing her graduate degree in couples and family therapy. In addition to her CoSIDA Academic honors, she is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree and received the 2021 Big 12/Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.

This season on the court, Lee is a candidate for every top women’s basketball honor, as she is on the Midseason Team for the 2022 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Watch List, the 2022 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year top-15, a 2022 Wooden Award Late Season Watch List member, the 2021-22 Wade Trophy Watch List and the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award Top-10 Watch List – given to the nation’s top center.

In the 2021-22 season, Lee leads the Big 12 and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring average (23.8 ppg), leads the Big 12 and is second in the nation in total points (595) and leads the nation in field goals made (245). Lee’s 595 points this season are 163 points ahead of the next closest center on the national list and 85 more points than the next closest player on the Big 12 scoring list.

The product of Byron, Minnesota, tops the Big 12 in field goal percentage (.572) and blocks (3.2 bpg). She also leads the Big 12 in 30-point games (8) and 20-point games (13) and second in the league and 10th in the nation in double-doubles (15).

A two-time United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week recipient, Lee’s 595 points and 245 made field goals are new career single-season highs. She is the second player in program history with 500 or more points, 225 or more rebounds and 70 or more blocks.

Lee, a four-time Big 12 Player of the Week selection and a three-time ESPN.com National Player of the Week honoree, is second in the Big 12 in rebounding (10.4 rpg) and eighth in free throw percentage (.766).

Lee is the only player in the nation to average 20 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and 3 or more blocks.

In league play, Lee leads the Big 12 in scoring (23.9 ppg), field goal percentage (.575) and rebounds (9.7 rpg). She is third in the league in blocked shots (2.4 bpg).

In her career, Lee is one of three players in the 54-year history of K-State women’s basketball to record 1,500 or more points, 800 or more rebounds and 200 or more blocks. She is among the top-15 in school history for career points (1,529; 12th), career field goals made (614; 10th), career rebounds (807; 9th) and career blocks (219; 3rd).

K-State returns to action on Sunday, February 20, as the Wildcats host Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. Sunday’s game is K-State’s annual WBCA Kay Yow cancer awareness game. The first 1,500 fans will receive a free K-State women’s basketball pink t-shirt. K-State will celebrate cancer survivors during the game and fans will have the opportunity to learn about local cancer fighting efforts.
