A local entrepreneur will be speaking at the 2022 Kansas Minority Business (KMB) Summit in April.

Sheila Ellis-Glasper is the founder of SEG Media Collective, a marketing agency based in Manhattan that provides a host of services from social media strategizing and management to IT consulting and brand design. Ellis-Glasper is also the founder and president of the Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to aid Black business owners in the region in streamlining and strengthening their firms.

Ellis-Glasper is among at least 18 different individuals who will be speaking or presenting at this year’s KMB Summit, hosted by the Kansas Chamber in partnership with Garden City Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College. This year marks year four of the event’s existence, and will take place April 12 at GCCC in Garden City with a satellite location at KCKCC and virtual viewing options as well.

Ellis-Glasper, a Kansas State University graduate in journalism and mass communication, will present on the topic of social media platform LinkedIn and best practices for its use in networking and building a brand. Ellis-Glasper in 2021 was named Kansas Minority Business Advocate of the Year by the Kansas Department of Commerce, accepting the award from Gov. Laura Kelly in October.

The event’s keynote speaker is Vercie Lark, U.S. Small Business Administration regional administrator for the Great Plains region. Lark will present on their experience as an angel investor and a mentor for small business owners.
