Tuesday’s In Focus featured representatives from the City of Manhattan to preview the evening’s legislative meeting.

City Manager Ron Fehr introduced the city’s new public information officer and communications manager Andrew Lawson. Lawson recently relocated to Manhattan from Arkansas City, where he worked as PIO for Ark City.

Fehr and Commissioner Wynn Butler then discussed the busy agenda planned for city officials Tuesday. The evening will feature three public hearings, two related to a proposed private Art and Light Museum, as well as one related to the new Meadowlark Hills independent living facility.

The commission will also consider authorizing the city to apply for FEMA grants to remove flood-prone properties as well an ordinance establishing a process for filling governing body vacancies. They’ll also look at eliminating multiple ordinances on meetings for which the corresponding State statutes no longer exist.

Wednesday’s In Focus will feature guests from USD 383 Manhattan-Ogden Schools, the Manhattan Fire Department and Downtown Manhattan, Inc.
