Riley County commissioners on Monday approved the fiscal 2023 adult and juvenile services plan for community corrections.

Corrections Director Shelly Williams says they received notice of an amendment to the governor’s budget to include additional funding for corrections grants for 841 thousand dollars. It will go toward a five percent pay increase.

The House and Senate budget committees agreed to add the funding and will vote on the final version of the budget bills next week. Williams requested commissioners approve the budget that does not include a cost of living adjustment or merit.

Williams told commissioners they hope to hear how much funding they’ll receive within the next month, assuming the vote gets finalized.

While commissioners requested more time on the matter for information to be released, Williams noted the budget for corrections is due Friday. The total amount for both comprehensive plans without COLAs is around $665,000.
