Friday’s In Focus featured guests from the Manhattan Juneteenth Committee for the entire hour.

We were joined in studio by City Liaison and Committee Member Dave Baker as well as Debbie Nuss and Committee Member Extraordinaire Betti O. The trio talked about the history of Juneteenth, now in its 32nd year of celebration in Manhattan.

They also previewed the week full of events around Manhattan starting next week. It begins Monday with a screening of BlacKkKlansman in K-State’s Forum Hall with director Kevin Willmott planned to present Wednesday at the Shamrock Zone. Thursday features a meet and greet with K-State coaches at the Douglass Activity Center and the annual grilling contest takes place Friday. Saturday features events all day from the 5k Unity Run/Walk at 7 a.m. and reading of the city proclamation at 11 a.m. to a Motown music festival in City Park at 7:30 p.m.
