Wesley Fair committed to Kansas State in the Spring as the third pledge of the 2023 class. He followed shortly after fellow Wichita native Will Anciaux announced his college decision to be a Wildcat.
Like many instate commits, Fair has been to Manhattan many times, and now that he’s just entered his senior season, the safety is eager to get to as many gameday visits in as he can to Manhattan. He was able to see K-State shutout South Dakota in Bill Snyder Family stadium last weekend and brought a couple of mentees with him.
Not only that, he was in tow for when Kansas State toppled Missouri as well.
“I had a great time on my visits,” Fair said. “I love being back in Manhattan knowing that it is going to be my home. I went through the whole tour because I brought some guys that have never been to K-State so I wanted to show them what K-State is all about. Hopefully they are recruits one day, but my dad has a group of kids that he mentors and two of the eighth graders that were doing good in school got to come.”
He was back at Kansas State this weekend for the highly anticipated non-conference matchup with Missouri. Fair also provided his assessment on how the Wildcats look early in this season.
“I think K-State has done a great job and I expect them to win every game, because if you expect to lose, then that is just a bad mindset to have,” Fair continued. “They played great against South Dakota and Missouri. It was really exciting to watch.”
The 2023 class he is a part of has compiled six in-state commits. It is also the most talented a recruiting class in Kansas has looked in a long time for either of the local programs.
“I am so excited to be a part of this class and excited to see the great things that I think we will be able to accomplish in the future,” Fair answered.
The most recent commit came from Olathe South product Jordan Allen. Fair shared an assessment on what he thinks of the edge rusher.
“Jordan Allen is a beast,” he pointed out. “I think that he is going to be a very important part of the defense. As far as I can tell, I think Jordan is very explosive, so I think that translates over well.”
The future Kansas State safety is even closer to tight end Will Anciaux and quarterback commit Avery Johnson. All three are from the Wichita area.
“I am really close with both of them and it’s still really hard to believe that we will be playing with each other at this level,” Fair divulged. “As you know, Avery is good at what he does and makes plays that matter, so he is going to shine in college. Will is so disciplined and he will be able to do lots of different things and make big plays. They are both going to do great things on the offensive side of a ball.”
Fair has played both sides of the ball for most of his high school football career. That hasn’t changed and he helped lead them to a 28-6 victory over Rose Hill the first weekend.
