    Open house concludes fire prevention week for MFD

    The Manhattan Fire Department wrapped up their fire prevention week with family-friendly activities at their annual open house. 

    Community members flocked to the Headquarters Fire Station to ride Old Engine 1, practice using real fire hoses, watch real fire demonstrations and more.

    MFD Captain Dan Newton explained more about the focus of this year’s fire prevention week: “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape” .

    Battalion Chief of Training Jason Hudson said this week was a great success and they were able to reach out and work with a variety of groups and people across town.

    Hudson said he hopes people are able to learn a lot from the open house activities.

    Community members Megan, Claire and Charlotte McCoy said the whole day was really fun, but there were a couple activities they enjoyed the most.
