    Boys’ Regional Wrestling Recap: Manhattan places 3rd, 17 area wrestlers qualify for state

    Manhattan High placed third as a team at the 6A Wrestling regional Saturday, qualifying 11 wrestlers for the state tournament, including a pair of first place finishers.

    Caeleb Hutchinson (36-3) placed 1st at 106
    Jameal Agnew (35-9) placed 1st at 132
    Cameron Coonrod (27-19) placed 4th at 113
    Taivaughnn Walsh (18-14) placed 4th at 120
    Logan Lagerman (32-5) placed 2nd at 126
    Ben Uher (19-23) placed 7th at 144
    Isaac Sinks (27-15) placed 2nd at 157
    Landon Dobson (21-12) placed 3rd at 175
    Raymond Gary-Hernandez (22-14) placed 5th at 190
    Jaxon Vikander (30-9) placed 4th at 215
    Clayton Frehn (27-7) placed 3rd at 285

    Wamego finished sixth as a team at the 4A regional, Rock Creek 14th. The Mustangs had no one qualify for state this coming weekend, while the Red Raiders will send six wrestlers.

    Harry Costa (16-10) placed 4th at 106
    Knox Karnowski (30-7) placed 3rd at 126
    Tayke Weber (18-12) placed 4th at 144
    Brody Oviatt (22-12) placed 4th at 157
    Jake Meyer (26-4) placed 3rd at 190

    The girls state tournaments begin Wednesday, with five area wrestlers participating.

    135 – Alayna Slifer, Manhattan – 2nd
    155 – Sage Rosario, Manhattan – 1st (unbeaten, 31-0)

    103 – Brook Burenheide, Rock Creek – 1st
    100 – Joee Perkins, Rock Creek – 4th
    190 – Cecilia Lynch, Rock Creek – 4th

    Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.
