Riley County commissioners will be presented Monday with a request to launch a survey as the county considers a potential move to a 4-day work week.
According to agenda documents, a workgroup of Riley County staff have researched best options. They’re proposing a move to an expanded schedule of four, 10-hour days for all departments, working Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Being closed on Fridays would allow staff an additional 52 days off per year, with a potential cost savings to taxpayers and no changes to overall customer service, since staff would still be employed 40 hours per week. Two surveys are proposed to gather input from both staff and the public.
Other items before commissioners include bid openings for culvert replacements on Flat Rock and Union Roads, as well as a rural housing incentive district presentation and a request to upgrade election systems software and equipment.
