Two delegates from this year’s American Legion Boys State of Kansas were elected by their peers to represent Kansas Boys State as senators this summer.

Soon-to-be seniors Adiel Garcia II, of Olathe and Creytin Sanner, of Junction City, will attend Boys Nation July 21-29 at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Jasper Kimball, of Andover and Max Mitchell, of Lawrence were selected as alternates.

At Boys Nation, Garcia and Sanner will join representatives from each of the 49 Boys State programs across the country (Hawaii does not have a Boys State program) to receive an education on the structure and function of federal government, caucusing and organizing into committees and conducting hearings on bills submitted by program delegates.

High School students from across Kansas participated in the annual Boys State events which were held on the K-State campus this past week, concluding on Saturday.
