    Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Claflin and Hylton Heights Roads in Manhattan on July 13, 2023, around 5:45 a.m. After arriving on scene, officers found a Nissan Sentra driven by Debra Palmer, 63, of Manhattan had rear-ended a Honda motorcycle driven by Richard Pena, 35, of Atlanta, Ga. Pena was transported to Via Christi for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Palmer was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

    Michael Jones, 48, of Topeka was arrested on July 13, 2023, around 1:30 p.m. on his two Riley County District Court warrants for failure to appear. These warrants stem from original drug possession and distribution charges. Jones remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $24,000.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 700 block of S. 6th St. in Manhattan on July 13, 2023, around 1:30 p.m. A&M Auto Repair was listed as the victim when it was reported a 49-year-old man failed to pay for services to his limousine. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $570.
