City and county share how to beat the heat this weekend

    0
By Bernie Fancella on August 18, 2023 Local News, Manhattan, Riley County

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning in effect from noon Saturday through Wednesday evening.

Riley County Emergency Management has also issued a no-burn notice. They also listed seven precautions to take during these extreme heat events.

Never leave children or pets alone in a hot vehicle, check on family members and neighbors, wear loose fitting clothing and stay hydrated, know the signs of heat stroke and exhaustion, avoid activities outdoors, and check on pets and ensure they have plenty of cool water.

There are a number of cooling locations open to the public as well, hours may vary.
