The City of Wamego is planning a major street project in the near future.

City Manager Stacy Eichem says five streets are included within the scope of the overall project. While one of the streets recently were completed, projects are planned along Spruce, Vine, Chestnut, and Walnut from 4th to 8th street, and all side streets in between.

The four year project is being handled by Byers Construction, through four sections, each approximately with a one year timeline. The first section along Vine and Chestnut from 4th to 6th Street and starts Aug. 21. Residents in that area will use alley access for six months.

Information on the road projects can be found on Wamego’s new website at https://www.wamego.org/street-project-0 as well as on the city’s Facebook page.
