The second week of the KSHSAA football playoffs includes six area teams still in action on Friday night, including two teams playing home games.

Lawrence – Free State (7-2) at Manhattan (8-1) – 6:30 pre-game on KMAN, 7:00 kickoff – The Firebirds backed into the playoffs with a pair of losses after challenging for the top seed in 6A West. They advanced last Friday by doubling up Garden City 42-21. Manhatan cruised to a 69-14 win over Wichita Southeast and has won five straight.

Rose Hill (4-5) at Wamego (7-2) – B104.7 Carpet One of Manhattan Game of the Week – 6:30 pre-game, 7:00 kickoff – After clinching the top seed in 4A West with a win over Abilene to close the regular season, Wamego dominated El Dorado last Friday, 58-14, continuing a string of wins where they’ve scored more than 35 points in each. Rose Hill had a 74 yard interception return against Winfield in the final moments last week to take a 20-13 win and advance.

Junction City (6-3) at Washburn Rural (9-0) – The second meeting of the season between the Centennial League foes comes as the Bluejays are riding their second three-game winning streak of the year. The first was broken by the Junior Blues winning the first meeting 28-7.

Rock Creek (6-3) at Wichita Collegiate (8-1) – After rolling against Chapman behind a number of turnovers gained, Rock Creek travels to meet a Collegiate team whose only loss came to defending 3A Champ Andale at the start of October.

Riley County (5-4) at Nemaha Central (9-0) – The Falcons make their second trip to Seneca in four weeks for this matchup, having battled the Thunder to a 7-0 game in the first half on October 13th. A safety, though, opened the flood gates in the second half as the defending 2A Champs ran out to a 30-0 win.

Frankfort (7-2) at Canton-Galva (8-1) – The Eagles dropped their opener by two to Little River and haven’t lost since, while Frankfort has won its last two, including shutting out Beloit-St. John’s/Tipton in their playoff opener.
