Sunset Zoo has acquired two new animals and the public is encouraged to visit them.

The zoo, capitalizing on its relationships with other zoos in the US, has brought in two takins. Marketing and Development Officer Melissa Kirkwood explains:

The second exotic animal being brought in is an okaupi:

The animals were acquired through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, of which the Sunset Zoo is a member. Kirkwood breaks down how these and similar animals are brought to Manhattan:

A key aspect of the acquisition of new animals is the authorization of Sunset Zoo to engage with breeding programs:

The zoo is routinely collaborating with the AZA to bring in new animals for the general public. The takin and okaupi will be available for visiting by late spring or early summer.
