The Midwest Dream Car Collection held their fifth anniversary celebration in Manhattan on Wednesday night and unveiled a new car to their collection, a 1948 Tucker 48, which is one of the rarest cars to find on the planet.
The ’48 Tucker is just one of 51 Tuckers created and one of just 46 remaining on Earth. Director of Vehicle Operations and Curator Doug Meloan says most all of them are in museums with roughly 16-17 that are privately owned. He says the Tucker was ahead of its time in terms of safety features.

Executive Director Chris Gergeni says the process of finding the Tucker took some time. Just three Tuckers have been sold over the past five years and he says they are very expensive.

Gergeni spoke to some of the history of this particular car.

The Tucker joins 83 other vehicles currently on display. The Midwest Dream Car Collection is open Thursday through Sunday. Video of the unveil is shared below.
