The USD 383 Manhattan-Ogden school board on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Manhattan Technical College to continue allowing Manhattan High School students to receive concurrent college credit next school year.
The memorandum of understanding for the 2024-25 academic year will return to the financial splits it had previously after changing in 2023-24, which resulted in a loss of $100,000 in revenue for the district.
The classes include both general education courses and career and technical education courses. Students will take the classes at MHS and during MHS school hours, and the credits they earn will go toward an associate degree in applied science at MATC.
The motion to sign the memorandum of understanding passed unanimously.
MHS to get sculpture in compassion courtyard
Board member Curt Herrman moved to give final approval for the proposal submitted by Tobias Flores for the Manhattan High School compassion courtyard sculpture in the amount of $11,880.
The sculpture will be a life-sized seated figure made of aluminum rod.
Board member Karla Hagemeister seconded the motion and it passed on a 7-0 vote.
