Pottawatomie County officials provided an update at Monday’s county commission meeting regarding the cleanup and recovery from the April 30 tornado in Westmoreland.
Public Works Director Tim Eisenbarth spoke to the county commissioners, who met in Wamego, regarding the work done so far and what to expect moving ahead.

Noxious Weed Director and Westmoreland Mayor Mark Jack said he was thankful to report that in spite of damage to the building, the chemicals stored inside were spared. However, most of the county sprayers were wiped out. Recycling services have been suspended for the time being.

According to Eisenbarth, the county’s insurance adjuster looked at damage last week and requested a structural engineer assess the buildings. County commissioners and staff praised the departments for the swift cleanup response since last Tuesday. More on Monday’s meeting is available at PottCountyTimes.com.

Monday’s meeting was held at the county’s new EMS building in Wamego due to roof and window damage at the county extension office building. Meetings will continue to be held in Wamego until further notice.
