    First round of Pottawatomie County candidates participate in public forum

    The first of a series of Pottawatomie County candidate forums took place in Wamego Thursday evening. Six candidates were featured where they answered questions and spoke about the reasons why they’re running for office.

    In the District 2 county commissioner race Nancy McCarter is running against Merl Page.

    Voters will also elect a new Pottawatomie County Sherriff to replace Shane Jager. Doug Adams, the current undersheriff, and Derek Cid, the current St. Marys Police Chief are the two Republican candidates running against each other for the position.

    Voters will also elect a new Pottawatomie County Attorney. Democrat Chris Biggs will challenge Republican John Paul Washburn in that race.

    Additional forums are planned for June 18 in St. George, July 1 in Westmoreland, July 11 in St. Marys and July 15 in Onaga. The primary takes place August 6th.
