    Little Apple’s Juneteenth celebration highlighted by Concert, Unity Walk

    The Little Apple celebrated its 35th annual Juneteenth holiday this long weekend, which was highlighted by a unity walk and performance by Grammy and Academy-award winning singer Regina Belle.

    Jurdene Coleman is the chair of the Manhattan Juneteenth planning committee, and she said this year’s walk had one of the highest turnouts she can remember…

    The walk started at Long’s park and participants marched down Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Yuma St, and finished at the Douglass Center.

    The Juneteenth celebrations also took place in City Park on Friday and Saturday night where the crowd heard a performance from Belle, and saw an outdoor screening of “42” the Jackie Robinson film.
