With the 4th of July just a week away, the Manhattan Fire Department is reminding folks to practice safety when using fireworks.
Manhattan Fire Department Fire Marshal Jake Powell spoke more about how fireworks should be used reminding folks to make smart and safe decisions.
Powell also reminds folks of when they’re allowed to shoot fireworks in Manhattan.
He says that fireworks should also not be used by certain people like children.
Powell also spoke about the most common accidents seen when it comes to fireworks.
The fire department also says that fireworks should only be fired away from buildings and that good judgment should be practiced when lighting or firing them off. Anyone caught firing off fireworks outside of the allotted hours could be cited and fined by the city of Manhattan.
