The Manhattan Housing Authority announced on Friday that they had secured a $16.5 million low-income housing tax credit from the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for the Sunflower Flats project.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for their support and investment in our community,” said executive director Aaron Estabrook. “This LIHTC allocation will allow us to further our mission of providing quality housing that meets the needs of our residents, while also promoting economic stability and community development.”
The funds come from state and federal dollars and will be used to develop senior housing for low and middle income seniors. The initiative will not only increase the availability of affordable housing in Manhattan but also contribute to to the overall revitalization and growth in the community.
“We look forward to working closely with our partners, stakeholders, and the community to maximize the impact of this funding,” said Estabrook. “Together, we will continue to create inclusive and thriving neighborhoods where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.”
The project is expected to get underway in the spring of 2025.
