The community event Everybody Counts returned for its 10th year on Saturday at the Douglass Recreation Center in Manhattan.

The event provides community resources for families and children who may not have access to different resources in the community.

Event organizer Deb Nuss said this was the largest turnout from organizations that she could remember in the event’s history.

“We’ve had about 70 organizations this year,” she said. “That’s a record for us as we typically get around 60.”

The event featured haircuts for the second straight year, a clothing drive and several resources in the community center, recreation center and outside.

With the event being in its 10th year, Nuss remarked that she never expected it to get to the level it has become.

“We’d be lucky in the first few years to get around 15 agencies,” she said. “We also never felt this event would continue on like it has.”
