A Manhattan man who was arrested last January is set to be sentenced in court on Tuesday for aggravated robbery.

26-year-old Brandon Welty was arrested back on Jan. 30 for a charge of aggravated robbery after he robbed a man at gunpoint in Manhattan and stole his backpack.

Welty was accompanied in the crime by 19-year-old Joseph Bauer Jr. who will have a jury trial on the matter set for this November.

Welty has a lengthy criminal history that includes prior convictions for burglary last year in Riley County.

The hearing gets underway at 1:30 p.m. inside Judge Grant Bannister’s courtroom.
