Friends operate booth at Buttons and Bows for woman who recently died of cancer

Kathy Crawford was looking forward to selling her wares at the Buttons and Bows Arts and Crafts Show for the first time this year, but it wasn’t to be,

Her friend, Susan Brunkow, ended up operating Crawford’s booth on Saturday, taking over after Crawford died of cancer three weeks ago.

Brunkow met Crawford at the Cancer Companions support group made up of Christian women who gather to assist one another as they battle cancer. After Crawford’s death, Brunkow and others decided to run a stand at the 44th annual event in her honor.

A handful of vendors took advantage of sunny weather Saturday to set up outside of the National Guard Armory in Manhattan for the 44th annual Buttons and Bows. The event had been held at Manhattan Catholic Schools before moving to the armory in 2021.
