Officials estimated more than 12,000 voters in Riley County had cast ballots as advance voting closed on Monday.

Riley County clerk Rich Vargo, reporting during the county commission meeting Monday morning, said advance voting closed at noon Monday ahead of Election Day on Tuesday.

He said as of Saturday, 11,655 people had participated in the election process. Elections officials said they were still counting as of Monday afternoon, but Vargo expected the number to exceed 12,000.
